COMMERCIAL TRANSPORT MECHANIC OR HEAVY-DUTY MECHANIC

Role

As a heavy-duty mechanic (or commercial transport mechanic), you will work closely with our other experienced mechanics to ensure that our large fleet of dump trucks, excavators, graders, loaders and other equipment is fully operational and well maintained.

 

This is a skilled position that primarily involves repair and maintenance of our large fleet of trucks and equipment. We are looking for someone with strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnosis and repairs, including engine diagnostics, brake systems, electrical systems, suspension, brake and air systems, hydraulics and other mechanical components of vehicles and equipment.

• Perform routine inspections on vehicles and equipment to identify potential issues, safety concerns, and necessary maintenance requirements.

• Assist drivers with day-to-day checks and maintenance.

• Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns, including diagnosis and field repairs.

• Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel & exhaust systems, brakes, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and lubricating systems.

• Maintain a clean and organized workspace: Keep the work area tidy and maintain tools and equipment in good working condition to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

• Observe safety protocols: Adhere to safety guidelines and precautions while working on vehicles and equipment to and maintain a safe workplace.
   

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s license

• Journeyman’s certificate (preferred).
