SCALE ATTENDANT

​

As a Scale Attendant at a Solid Waste Eco Depot, you will be responsible for weighing incoming and outgoing vehicles and materials, collecting fees, and maintaining accurate records. You will also provide excellent customer service by answering questions and directing customers to appropriate areas of the facility. Additionally, you will work closely with other employees to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the facility.

 

Responsibilities include:

•Operate the scale and weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles and materials, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

•Collect fees and issue receipts for incoming and outgoing materials, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.

•Maintain accurate records of all transactions, including weight tickets and daily revenue reports.

•Provide excellent customer service by answering questions, providing information, and directing customers to appropriate areas of the facility.

•Direct customers to the right location for the disposal of other recycling, like oil, small appliances, tires, etc.

•Ensure that all visitors comply with the site's rules and regulations.

•Assist in maintaining a safe and clean work environment (including cribs and piles), including regular cleaning and maintenance of the scale, office, and surrounding areas.

Activities include, but are not limited to: raking, shoveling, sweeping, picking up garbage/debris and cutting grass.

•Work closely with other employees to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the facility, including assisting with traffic flow and directing vehicles to appropriate areas.

 

Requirements:

•Experience in customer service.

•Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

•Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.

•Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

•Ability to operate a computer and basic software applications, including Microsoft Office (training available).

•Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

 

The Scale Attendant may be required to work on weekends and holidays as well as before the site opens for the public.
