SITE ATTENDANT
(Summer Position - Weekends)

Role
Site Attendant to assist in managing the daily operations of our Solid Waste Eco Depot. The Site Attendant will be responsible for ensuring that the site is clean, organized, and safe for staff and all visitors. The site attendant will also assist in the handling of solid waste, including sorting, recycling, and disposal of waste materials. The site attendant must have excellent communication and customer service skills, as they will be interacting with members of the public regularly.

Schedule: Saturdays - Sundays


Responsibilities

  • Welcome and greet all visitors to the Solid Waste Eco Depot / Transfer Stations, and provide them with guidance on the proper disposal of their waste materials.

  • May collect fees and issue receipts for incoming and outgoing materials, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.

  • Ensure that all visitors comply with the site's rules and regulations.

  •  Manage the intake, sorting, and disposal of waste materials, including hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

  • Assist customers with the disposal of other recycling, like oil, small appliances, tires, etc.

  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the site, including the sorting and disposal areas.

  • Assists in maintaining a safe and clean worksite (including cribs and piles), including, but not limited to: raking, shoveling, sweeping, picking up garbage/debris and cutting grass.

  • Maintain accurate records of waste materials received and disposed of, including any hazardous materials.

  • Assist with the maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities on-site.

  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve any complaints or issues that arise.

  • Communicate the status of bins, bags and trailers, daily.


Requirements

  • Prior experience working in a waste management or recycling facility is an asset.

  • Knowledge of safe waste handling procedures and regulations.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects.

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.


Additional Notes
The Site Attendant may be required to work on weekends and holidays as well as before the site opens for the public.
