APPRENTICE MECHANIC or
MECHANIC'S ASSISTANT
As an apprentice mechanic, you will work closely with our experienced mechanics to gain valuable hands-on experience and training in Heavy Equipment, Commercial Vehicle repair and maintenance. This entry-level position is ideal for someone with a passion for automobiles and heavy equipment. Responsibilities 1. Assisting senior mechanics: Work under the guidance of experienced mechanics to perform repairs and maintenance tasks, including engine diagnostics, brake systems, electrical systems, suspension, hydraulics and other mechanical components. 2. Learn and apply repair techniques: Acquire practical knowledge of heavy equipment repair methods and industry best practices, and apply them under supervision to gain expertise and proficiency. 3. Perform routine inspections: Assist in conducting routine vehicle inspections to identify potential issues, safety concerns, and necessary maintenance requirements. 4. Perform routine service maintenance/ repairs such as oil changes, tire rotations, and supervised minor mechanical repairs. 5. Maintain a clean and organized workspace: Keep the work area tidy and maintain tools and equipment in good working condition to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. 6. Observe safety protocols: Adhere to safety guidelines and precautions while working on vehicles and equipment to maintain a safe workplace. 7. Learn from technical manuals and resources, schematics, and diagnostic tools to enhance your knowledge and problem-solving abilities. Requirements: •Valid Driver’s license •Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. •Passion for mechanics: Genuine interest and enthusiasm for automobiles, commercial vehicle and heavy equipment industry. •Basic mechanical knowledge: Familiarity with basic automotive systems and parts is preferred but not mandatory. •Team player: Willingness to collaborate with the team and learn from experienced mechanics. •Problem-solving abilities: Ability to identify problems and propose practical solutions. •Safety-conscious: Understanding of safety protocols and a commitment to following them diligently.
COMMERCIAL TRANSPORT MECHANIC
This is a skilled position that primarily involves repair and maintenance of a large fleet of heavy equipment including dump trucks, graders, loaders, excavators and more. We are looking for someone with strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills. DUTIES: •Perform inspection, diagnosis and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment. •Assist drivers with day-to-day maintenance. •Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns. •Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel & exhaust systems, brakes, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and lubricating systems. REQUIREMENTS: •Journeyman’s certificate •Valid Driver’s License •Analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills
WELDER
As Welder/Fabricator at Borrow Enterprises, you are part of heavy equipment shop. You will be responsible for performing welding and fabrication tasks on various heavy equipment components and structures. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining and enhancing the functionality and durability of our equipment, ensuring the smooth operation of our operations. Responsibilities: Welding and Fabrication: •Perform various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick. •Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to determine project requirements. •Measure, cut, and shape metal pieces using tools such as shears, saws, torches and break press. •Operate welding equipment and machinery safely and efficiently. •Conduct inspections to identify welding defects and make necessary repairs. •Perform structural repairs and modifications on heavy equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations. •Collaborate with management, shop foreman and maintenance team to provide input on design improvements and modifications. •Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to fabricate metal components and structures. •Utilize various fabrication techniques, such as cutting, bending, grinding, and drilling, to shape and assemble metal parts. •Operate metalworking machinery, such as presses, lathes, and mills, to fabricate components. •Maintain inventory of raw materials and welding/fabrication supplies and report shortages as necessary. Safety and Compliance: •Adhere to all safety protocols, regulations, and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment. •Follow established quality standards and procedures to ensure the integrity and reliability of welded and fabricated components. •Keep work area clean and organized to maintain efficiency and safety. Requirements: CWB certification is mandatory. •Proven experience as a Welder/Fabricator, preferably in a heavy equipment or industrial setting. •Proficient in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and stick welding. •Familiarity with fabrication tools and machinery, such as saws, presses, and grinders. •Ability to accurately measure, cut, and shape metal components. •Attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality workmanship. •Ability to work independently and as part of a team. •Physical stamina and dexterity to perform welding and fabrication tasks. •Commitment to safety and adherence to safety guidelines and procedures.
